155 out of 177 militants killed in 2020 are locals: DGP
Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh today in a press conference said that 177 militants have been killed this year in J-K and 155 among them are locals, reported a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS).
Talking to the press, the DGP said that 165 militants have been killed in Kashmir and twelve in Jammu region. Among 177, twenty-two were foreign militants who were killed this year. Twenty militants who had joined this year were brought back into the mainstream, the police claimed.
About the Batamaalo gunfight, the DGP said that three militants and a woman was killed and a deputy commandant of paramilitary was critically injured. “It’s painful to see when a civilian is killed during cross firing. Pakistan is desperate to disturb peace in J-K UT,” the DGP said.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar while answering a question regarding the death of Sopore youth said that “when he was taken to spot where he had hidden grenades and other material, he took advantage of darkness and managed to escape. We have initiated an enquiry in this incident.”
Answering another question regarding mobile internet gag in Sopore, the IGP said that we snap mobile internet according to the situation, we don’t want militants to take advantage of mobile internet. “Today we didn’t snap Internet in Srinagar amid gunfight as we knew we can handle the situation,” he said.
