4 kg narcotics seized in Poonch

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that 4 kilograms of “heroin-like substance” were recovered from the Dhargloon area of Mendher in the Poonch district of the Jammu region.

A police official said that a joint patrolling party of police along with SOG Mendher and army’s 39 and 49 RR conducted a search operation in the Dhargloon area and during searches, approximately 4 kg “heroin-like substance” was recovered. He said that a case (FIR No.89/20) under sections 8/21/22 NDPS has been lodged in police station Gursai. “Investigation and search are continuing to probe its handlers and source,” the official said, adding, “Since the area lies near Line of Control, and evidence suggests to its trans-border smuggling links.”

Confirming the recovery, SSP Poonch Ramesh Angral told that the investigations are underway.
This is the consecutive fourth big recovery of narcotics in this border area of district Poonch by police and army in the last 20 days. (GNS)
