1200 accidental deaths in J&K in 2020: NCRB
Srinagar: During the year 2020, Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed over 1200 accidental deaths while the Ladakh Union Territory (UT) recorded more than hundred accidental deaths, reveals the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) record.
According to the official figures of National Crime Records Bureau for Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), a copy of which lies with local news gathering agency KNO in the year 2020 J&K and Ladakh has recorded 1203 accidental deaths with 1018 males and 185 females.
In Ladakh among102 accidental deaths, there are 89 males and 13 females.
As per data provided by states and UTs in the report, the National Average rate of accidental deaths is 27.7, where J&K stands at 09 and Ladakh at 34 as the rate of said deaths.
“J&K has seen 48 and Ladakh 09 deaths caused due to the forces of nature during 2020 while due to some other reasons, J&K has recorded 1155 deaths followed by the Ladakh region with 93 deaths,” reveals the data.
According to the figures of NCRB, due to different traffic accidents, J&K has recorded 740 deaths and 61 deaths due to poisonings, followed by 55 deaths due to falling whereas 53 deaths due to drowning in the year 2020
“J&K has also recorded 21 deaths due to electrocution and 34 sudden deaths, in which 33 have heart attack as major cause. Also, there have been 17 deaths due to fire accidents,” reads the data.
Similarly, due to Avalanche, there have been eight deaths, followed by landslides with four deaths. Also, three deaths due to collapse of structure and two deaths due to cyclone and one due to exposure to cold-(KNO)
