Five youths prevented from joining militancy in Srinagar: Police

Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday prevented five persons from joining militancy and were arrested in the Babademb area of Srinagar district.

As per the statement issued by the police, on 8 July, Police Station Kralkhud received information through reliable sources that a group of “miscreants” had gathered at Babademb Naqashpora ground and were holding a meeting.

“The group included, Bilal Ahmad Malla S/o Mohammad Sideeq Malla R/o Siver Harden Lolab; Haseeb Farooq S/o Farooq Ahmad Bhat R/o Prichoo Pulwama; Shah Fahad Shabir S/o Shabir Ahmad Teli R/o Tang Pona Pulwama and Reyaz Ahmad Mughal S/o Abdu Rasheed Mughal R/o Reshiwari Aawoora Kupwara,” reads the statement.

The statement further adds that the “group has had a known history of being linked with TRF wing of banned terrorist outfit of LeT and have been known to have had conversations over the phone with their terrorist handlers in POK. Also, as per inputs, the whole group was in a bid to join militant ranks anytime after Eid al Adha”.

“Since these activities of the said group were prejudicial to the security of the country, and considering the reliable inputs about their efforts to join militant ranks, they were arrested on the spot,” it read.

Based on further investigation, the statement read, “another accused was arrested whose name is, Mohd Imroz Dar S/O Fayaz Ahmed Dar R/O Bundroo Pulwama who was also making efforts to join militant ranks.”

Accordingly, the case was registered under “First Information Report (FIR) no. 22/2022 US 13 UAPA has been registered in Police Station Kralkhud and further investigation has been taken up”.
