LG announces 10% reservation for ‘Agniveers’ in JKP

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has announced 10 percent reservation for “Agniveers” in Jammu and Kashmir police and also agreed to consider suggestions for coaching to the aspirants.

He made the important announcement while addressing monthly ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ programme, which was aired on third Sunday of the month, on All India Radio (AIR)-Jammu and Kashmir.

“Ten percent reservation to Agniveers will be implemented in Jammu and Kashmir police,” Sinha said.

Sinha commended role of the Jammu and Kashmir police, security forces, NDRF, SDRF, administration and employees for saving many lives after cloudburst tragedy near Amarnath cave shrine.

On 14 June, Government of India unveiled the “Agnipath” scheme with an aim to transform the armed forces.

However, stung by the continuing violent protests against the scheme , the government later announced concessions for Agniveers, indicating that the government will press ahead with the move by assuaging a wide cross-section of aspirants.
