Jammu-Srinagar highway closed after snowfall, shooting stones
The Jammu-Srinagar national highway, the main road link connecting Kashmir with the rest of the country, has been closed on Friday for vehicular movement due to snowfall and shooting stones on the road, officials said.
“Snowing in nowgam banihal sector. Slippery road conditions. Avoid travel on the NH till clearance. Contact TCU for further updates,” SSP Traffic highway Mohita Sharma said in a tweet.
“Intermittent shooting stones and mud slide continue at Mehar. Avoid travelling on NH till clearance. Contact TCU for updates,” she said.
She further added: “Heavy boulders have damaged steel tunnel at panthyal. Consult TCU for traffic updates before making any travel plans.”
