Active militant of Al-Badr arrested in Budgam: Police
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have arrested an active militant of Al-Badr in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, saying that arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police spokesman said that based on specific information about the presence of militants, Budgam Police along with 53RR and 181Bn CRPF launched a joint search operation in village Nagbal of Char-i-Sharif.
“During the search, a recently joined militant linked with Al-Badr was arrested. He has been identified as Gulzar Ahmad Bhat of Bathpora Arwani Anantnag,” the spokesman said, adding that the preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested militant was in close contact with the handlers of Al-Badr across the border in Pakistan and also active militants of Al-Badr outfit in South Kashmir.
“Arms and ammunition including one Chinese Pistol, one Pistol Magazine, 14 Pistol rounds, two AK Magazine, 58 AK rounds and incriminating materials of Al-Badr were recovered from his possession,” police said, adding that in this regard, a case under FIR number 24/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered in Police Station Chrar-i-Sharif and further investigation is in progress—(KNO)
