All Parks, gardens in Srinagar closed amid coronavirus scare
Srinagar: Authorities on Monday ordered the closure of all Parks and Gardens in Srinagar city till further orders as a precaution against the coronavirus.
Taking to a social networking site, Twitter DC Srinagar Shahid Choudhary wrote: “All Parks and Gardens in #Srinagar will remain closed till further notice. Cooperation of people in implementing precautionary measures is appreciated.”
The move comes after the administration shut down all schools, colleges and private tuition centres in view of the rising number of positive cases of coronavirus in the country.
As preventive measures, the administration ordered the closure of primary schools and aganwadi centres and shutting down of cinema halls across the region till 31 March.
Kashmir University on Thursday announced the suspension of all classes for the rest of March as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus disease.
“It is notified for the information of all concerned that the classwork at the University of Kashmir including its main campus and all other satellite campuses shall remain suspended with effect from March 12, 2020, to March 31, 2020, as a precautionary measure in view of the pandemic Covid-19,” a varsity spokesperson said.
The coronavirus outbreak originated in China’s Wuhan in December and has spread to over 60 nations, killing more than 3,000 people and infecting over 90,000.
The dozens of persons have been quarantined to prevent the spread of the disease.
