Army conducts Mass Awareness And Cleanness Drive-In Baramulla

“SHAISTA VARMUL”, mass cleanliness and awareness drive was organized with effect from 29 to 31 Mar 21 in Baramulla town. The drive was conducted by Rashtriya Riffles under the aegis of the Dagger Gunners/ Dagger division in coordination with municipal council Baramulla and district administration.

As a precursor to the initiative, teams of Baramulla Rashtriya Rifles met the awaam at different locations to educate them about the relevance of cleanliness and hygiene to make Baramulla clean and green again, the statement reads.

Discussion sessions were organised in cohesion with Municipal Council and locals which aimed at identifying the root causes of the wide spread sanitation problems in Baramulla town.

The main cause was found to be lack of awareness among the locals and towards this end informative street plays were organised at major flash points in the area from 28 Mar to 30 Mar 2021. The street plays turned out to be a huge success and received wide spread appreciation from various communities.

In the second phase of the initiative, Baramulla Rashtriya Rifles in coordination with Municipal Council Baramulla and District Administration conducted cleanliness drives at 14 different locations to include areas of Old Town, New Town, Binner, Sheeri, Janbazpura, Khadnyar, and Khawajabagh. The cleanliness drives witnessed the participation of a large number of enthusiastic volunteers who made the locals aware of the mass campaign being organized, towards which they expressed great zeal to make the humongous initiative a lasting success.

The cleanliness teams after duly consulting the locals and identifying their needs carried out the installation of dustbins at Garbage Vulnerable Points at various locations in the area.

The initiative culminated successfully with a mass awareness rally and cultural programme at Gulnar Park, Baramulla.

The final event was organised in adherence of COVID protocols and was graced by Brig Prashant Halgeri, Deputy GOC Dagger Division , Brig Amit Dhir, Commander Dagger Gunners ,Shri Bhupinder Kumar(IAS), District Commissioner Baramulla, Shri Rayees Md Bhat (IPS), SSP Baramulla and staff from Municipal Council. The event saw major participation from students of local schools.

At the end of the event, DC Baramulla during media interaction conveyed to the Awaam that this well begun initiative should carry on and people must continue to observe COVID precautions.

The Awaam expressed heartfelt appreciation and hoped for further fruitful bonding with their HUMSAYAS IN OLIVE GREENS.
