Awantipora Gunfight: Second militant surrenders after hectic persuasion, says IGP Kashmir
One militant was killed while another militant surrendered before government forces in an ongoing operation in Noorpora area of Awantipora in South Kashmir on Monday evening.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar said that one militant was killed in initial exchange of firing, while the second militant who was trapped inside the gunfight site agreed to surrender after hectic persuasion by the police and army.
Its pertinent to mention that two newly recruited Al-Badr militants also surrendered before forces in Sopore last week.
Earlier, reports reaching said that a joint team of Police and army’s 42RR launched a cordon and search operation in Noorpora.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.(GNS)
