India’s coronavirus tally surged to 4,10,461 infections this morning as it registered the steepest one-day jump of 15,413 new patients in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said this morning, hours after the country’s COVID-19 count soared past the four lakh-mark, NDTV reported.
A total of 13,254 patients have died since the beginning of the pandemic. Of these, 306 people died in the last 24 hours.
The fourth worst-hit country by the pandemic, India has been reporting a record surge in numbers for the last four days.
Nearly 2,27 lakh people have recovered so far. The country’s recovery rate stood at 55.48 per cent this morning.
India tested a record 1.9 lakh samples on Saturday, taking the total number of samples tested since the beginning of the pandemic to 68,07,226. The country’s average positivity rate – ratio of positive cases to the number of tests conducted – stood at 7.64 per cent this morning. (NDTV)
