Srinagar: Two more people succumbed to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the death toll to 58 in Union territory.
A 69-year-old man from Gandhi Nagar, who was admitted to the isolation ward of GMC, Jammu, on May 31, passed away on Sunday. The man had comorbidities like hypertention, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and ashthma. He had severe sepsis and died around midnight (1:30 a.m). The latest death has taken Jammu district’s COVID toll to four.
A 60-year-old man from Nowgam locality of Srinagar, who was admitted as an asymptomatic COVID-19 patient at SKIMS, Bemina on June 5, died on Saturday night. The man suffered from diabetes, hypertension and chronic kidney disease.
He was shifted to an ICU and died even after resuscitation, said SKIMS Bemina Medical Superintendent Dr Shafa Deva.
So far, 51 from Kashmir Valley and seven from Jammu division have succumbed to COVID.
During the last 24 hours, three staffers of GMC are among the 38 people who have tested positive in Jammu province.
