Dozen pilgrims injured in Udhampur road accident
Over a dozen Machail yatris were injured after a mini-bus on its way from Paddar to Jammu turned turtle in Udhampur on Srinagar-Jammu Highway, officials said.
They said that a mini-bus (JK02AK-9277) carrying 25 pilgrims turned turtle near Batal Ballian area of Udhmpur when the driver lost control of it. At least 13 pilgrims sustained injuries and were shifted to Udhampur Hospital for treatment.
Doctors referred two seriously injured pilgrims to Government Medical College Jammu for specialized treatment. The rest of the pilgrims are being treated at Udhampur Hospital.
Officials said that pilgrims were returning back after paying obeisance to goddess Durga at Machail chandi Mata temple at Paddar Kishtwar to Jammu.
The accident occurred on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
Notably, Machail Chandi Mata temple, popularly known as Machail Mata, is a shrine of the Hindu goddess Durga in the village Machail of Sub Division Paddar, in Kishtwar District of Jammu region. (KNT)
