Hope PM Modi will Order Restoration of full Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with Article 370: Farooq Abdullah

National Conference President and former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah said that I sincerely hope that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will listen to the heartbeat of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with Article 370.

He expressed this hope in an interaction with reporters after meeting with Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nangali Sahib at Digiana Ashram today. Mahant Manjit Singh is considered a prominent religious leader of the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr Farooq Abdullah said that the way Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced to withdraw the Agricultural Reform Act while respecting the feelings of the farmers gives me hope that he will listen to the feelings of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, their heartbeat. He said that if the Prime Minister wants to remove the distance of heart and distance of Delhi, then he will not only have to return the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and Article 370 and 35A, removing the erosion that has happened to our autonomy.

Responding to a question on the Hyderpara encounter, he said that the National Conference has no faith in the magisterial inquiry announced by the government. The magistrate is the government’s own man, and he always speaks the official language under the government’s pressure. That’s why we are demanding a judicial inquiry.

Dr Farooq Abdullah said that it is shameful to criticise the state government to remove various contractual and daily wage workers. Instead of providing employment, the government is making people unemployed. Therefore, the laid-off contractual and daily wage earners should be reinstated.

On the bomb blast outside the military establishment in Pathankot, Dr Farooq Abdullah said that this is not a new thing. Whatever disputes and issues are with Pakistan, they should be resolved only through dialogue. China has established a new village in our area in Arunachal Pradesh. Despite this, the Indian government can talk with China, so why hesitate to talk to Pakistan. He said that what is the problem in talking to Pakistan regarding the LoC. I repeat once again that what we have, no one can take away from us, and we will not be able to take anything from anyone else.

On the question related to elections in Jammu and Kashmir, he said that you should conduct elections tomorrow; we are ready. It is impossible to talk about the BJP’s claim to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir with an absolute majority. BJP can form its government only by misusing government machinery, using police and based on
