Illicit timber seized in Budgam, three arrested: Police
Police on Sunday said that it has seized illicit timber and arrested three persons in central Kashmir Budgam.
In a statement, a spokesperson that the police Slstation Khag received an information that three persons namely Fayaz Ahmad Malik son of Abdul Karim Malik, Ghulam Mohammad Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar and Ghulam Hasan Dar son of Mohammad Abdullah Dar all residents of Shuplian Khag have hidden illicit timber in the tin shed of Fayaz Ahmad Malik in forest village Shuplin Khag.
“Upon receiving the information, forest department was also informed and a joint raid was conducted by Budgam police/forest officials. During raid illicit timber 93 swans of Deodar/Kail (35 cft) was recovered from the tin shed. All the three accused were arrested on spot,” he said.
Police said that case FIR number 18/2023 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Khag and investigation has been taken up. (KS)
