JK highway remains closed for third consecutive day
Srinagar: The Srinagar- Jammu highway remained closed on Saturday for the third consecutive day due to landslides, a traffic official said.
An official said that no vehicular movement would be allowed on the highway keeping the safety of travellers in mind.
“The traffic was suspended on Thursday following landslides at many places along the highway and fresh snowfall ,” he said.
“The decision regarding allowing the movement of traffic on the highway will be taken only after the road is cleared off by the road maintenance agency concerned and after assessing road condition,” the official said.
Reports said that hundreds of vehicles remained stranded at various places on the highway.
Meanwhile, the historic Mughal road and Sonamarg-Leh are closed for traffic due to the accumulation of snow.
