Three militants have been killed in a gunfight between militants and government forces in south Kashmir’s Awantipora district, the police said.
”03 terrorists killed in Awantipora encounter. Identification being ascertained. As per our source, 1 is FT & 1 local terrorist of LeT namely Mukhtiyar Bhat, involved in several terror crimes including killing of 01 ASI of CRPF & 2 RPF personnel. A big success for us,” Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, quoting ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar.
Earlier, a gunfight had started between militants and government forces in Khandipora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday.
In a tweet, Kashmir Zone Police wrote, ”Encounter started at Khandipora, Awantipora area of Pulwama district. Awantipora Police & Army (55 RR) are on the job. Further details shall follow.”
