LeT militant arrested in north Kashmir: Police
The police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested an active militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), who it said was planning to carry out an attack in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, as per an official statement.
“The joint team of Special Operation Group (SOG) Handwara and Bandipora including the army’s 13 and 32 Rashtriya Rifles and 92 CRPF on developing developing specific inputs about the plans of attack by militants launched joint operation,” the statement said.
It added that the alleged militant was arrested along with incriminating material including arms and ammunition. The police identified the arrested person as Auqib Ahmad Rather, alias Jana, son of Ghulam Mohammad Rather of Sahipora Handwara in Kupwara district.
A case under FIR number 77/2020 under section 7/25 Indian Arms Act, 13 18, 20 ULA(P) Act has been registered in Police Station Kralgund and further investigation has been taken up. (KNO)
