Man held with pistol without a license in Poonch: Police

A man was apprehended along with an Indian made pistol without a valid license, during a naka at Aala Peer Chowk in Poonch district on Tuesday, police said.

A police spokesperson said that today a man was apprehended by a naka party at Aala Peer Chowk, while moving suspiciously in the area.

The statement reads that on seeing a police party at the naka, the man tried to fled away suspiciously but the alert party apprehended him on spot and one Indian made pistol was recovered from his procession.

It reads that during further questioning he disclosed his name as Basat Muneer s/o Muneer Husain of Marah Surankote at present at Ward No 13 Sheesh Mahal Poonch.

“He couldn’t produce a valid license of the pistol. On this case FIR No. 160/2022 u/s 3/25 IAA has been registered and investigation has been taken up,” it added—(KNO)
