In a major boost to Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, top National Conference (NC) leader Manzoor Ahmad Wani is joining the party on Sunday.
Manzoor, who resigned from the post of NC’s vice-president central zone, had contested the 2014 assembly election from the Khansahib assembly segment and secured 15397 votes.
Manzoor’s entry is seen as a major gain for PC which has emerged as a pan-Kashmir formidable political force.
“It would now be a contest between PC and Hakim Yasin in Khan Sahib Assembly segment. Our leader Imran Reza Ansari has a sizable influence in the segment,” a PC leader told a local news agency, Kashmir Dot Com (KDC).
In the 2019 parliament elections, PC polled more votes than Peoples Democratic Party in the Lok Sabha elections in Kashmir. (KDC)
