Poonch district plans 570 hectares under HD apple cultivation

POONCH: District Development Commissioner Poonch, Rahul Yadav today inspected newly established High density Apple Orchards aided by horticulture department at Surankote.


The DDC was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer, Rajinder Kumar Lachan and other officers of the Horticulture Department.

The High density Apple Orchards have been aided by Horticulture Department under CAPEX Scheme in which farmers get a subsidy of Rs. 50,000 per hectare.

The Chief Horticulture Officer informed that a total 146 hectare land has been brought under high density apple plantation during spring season 2020-21, while against the target of 270 hectare target area additional area 258 hectare has been brought under normal density plantation under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture Central Sponsored Scheme (MIDH during the same period.

The DDC asked the Chief Horticulture Officer to create mass awareness about Mission for integrated development of horticulture so that the farmers can avail the benefits and earn money.
