Srinagar: President MC Aishmuqam Sofi Arafat Rashid and Mohammed Iqbal Chairman Coordination Committee Monday called on Hon’ble Lt Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan Srinagar in connection with the issues related to Aishmuqam Sufi Town, Dooru the town of poets and Verinag the source of Jehlum, and also the issues pertaining to Urban Local Bodies Kashmir.
The issues raised by the President MC Aishmuqam Sofi Arafat included the revival of Sufi Traditions, the inclusion of Sufi Literature in the curriculum of schools, colleges, and universities, and the establishment of the Nund Reshi- Lalla Ded Research and Analysis Centre in South Kashmir’s Aishmuqam Town. Further, he also demanded that a Sufi-Prasad circuit connecting the Aishmuqam Shrine of Zain-ud-Din Wali RA and Mata Raganiya Devi Asthapan Logripora be developed to promote pilgrimage tourism in the area. Mr Arafat demanded the upgradation of Aishmuqam PHC into a full-fledged Trauma Hospital or CHC owing to the strategic location on the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra route and the world-famous tourist resort Pahalgam.
Mr Arafat apprised the Hon’ble Lt Governor about the long pending demand of the Aishmuqam area which is the establishment of a Govt Degree College. A gondola ropeway to Aishmuqam Shrine from Tourist Facilitation Centre Latroo was also put forward by Mr Arafat who further requested the finalization of NH 501 DPR with the inclusion of Aishmuqam as a famous pilgrimage center.
Mohammed Iqbal Chairman of Municipal Committee Dooru-Verinag demanded that the Anantnag-Dooru Verinag road, the Upgradation of PHC Verinag to SDH level, Maternity and Children Hospital for Dooru, Model Hospital to be affiliated with GMC Anantnag, Gondola ropeway to Verinag be taken on priority.
Iqbal further added that the ULBs of Kashmir are doing a fantastic job and need a boost in terms of funding, powers, and domain by way of awarding the ambit of the 74th Amendment.
Hon’ble Lt Governor appreciated the visiting public representatives and assured them of all possible help in a time-bound manner.
