Release Mirwaiz in wake of sacred month: Jamia Auqaf
Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid has called for the immediate release of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in wake of the sacred month so that “he can perform all his responsibilities as the Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir”.
Ahmad Sayeed Naqshbandi, vice president of the Auqaf Jamia Masjid, “expressed concern over the prevailing deteriorating situation in Jammu and Kashmir, especially the continued detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq,” a statement read.
Addressing the Friday prayers at the historic Jamia Masjid, Naqshbandi condemned “the incarceration of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and curbs on his religious, social and other activities especially preventing him from delivering Friday sermon” at Jamia Masjid.
“Usurping the basic rights of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and the people through military might is extremely unfortunate and condemnable,” he added. “The ongoing Rajab-ul-Murajab is a sacred month in which the Messenger of Allah Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) was bestowed with miracles among which the Me’raj-un-Nabi (SAW) was historic and revolutionary.”
The statement further stated that the people present in the masjid expressed strong resentment over the continued detention of Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir and demanded his, and thousands of political, social and civil society leaders and youth who are languishing in jails, immediate release.
