Srinagar: A Sarpanch from Bufliaz area on Saturday alleged that he was slapped and beaten up by a GRS during a meeting convened by BDO at Surankote in Poonch district.
The Sarpanch, Amjiad Khan, alleged that while he was informing the meeting about the problems facing people in his area, a GRS (Gram Rozgar Sewak) of RDD department suddenly came and slapped him.
“He then went on to beat me up and all this happened in presence of the BDO and other Sarpanches, Panches and officials present in the meeting,” he said. Mr. Ahmad has filed a complaint with the district authorities and police, seeking action against the GRS.
When contacted, ACD Poonch Rajesh Lakhan told a local news gathering agency Global News Service (GNS) that he will look into the matter. “If it has happened, it is very bad. I will look into it,” he said. (GNS)
