Sopore militant Attack: Injured Councillor Succumbs; Death Toll Reaches 3

Srinagar: Another Municipal Councilor who was earlier injured in a militant attack in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has succumbed to his injuries, taking the death toll in the attack to three.

Official sources told that the deceased councilor identified as Shams-ud-Din Peer was admitted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar, however succumbed to his injuries on intervening Tuesday night.

Earlier two persons including a Municipal Councilor namely Reyaz Ahmad and a policeman (SPO) Shafqat Nazir Khan were killed as militants fired “indiscriminately upon the Municipal Councilors near Lone Building opposite SDH Sopore”, on Monday afternoon. (GNS)
